More on the Sydney /Mardi Gras Adventure
I thought that I should probably provide a little bit of info about the trip to accompany the photos already up (as well as the ones still to be posted).
Toby, Geoff, Flick and I arrived in Sydney on Thursday and headed straight to Al, Jamie and Guy's place *Thanks guys*. We were all bunking down on two Queen size matresses on the floor of the spare room.
Thursday night we headed out to Oxford st to meet up with Tristan and a few other friends. All tarted up we headed out to Stonewall, a gay club on Oxford st (of course, seeing as it really was all about the boys this weekend).
Unbelievable, Flick and I were denied entry at the door. DENIED!!!
What bullshit, all because we were not wearing closed shoes, they were clearly only wanting butch lezzies to come in. Well... a few minutes later Flick managed to sneak in through one of the side doors (good effort) and blend into the crowd.
I, being the chicken that I am, was stuck outside with this nasty dreadlocked lesbian keeping an eye on me! She hated my guts! (obviously knew we were up to something)
I finally got in wearing geoffs shoes (meanwhile Geoff was inside barefoot) with my own shoes tucked down the back of my pants. Swapped shoes with Geoff once inside and sat down to enjoy the swimsuit comp. Very cute guys... just a shame they also like boys.
Anyway, got tracked down by the dreadlocked lesbian and escorted from the club! spewing, it was the first time i have been kicked out of a club while still sober (almost sober)!
Luckily Tristan had a spare pair of shoes in a nearby hotel and I danced the rest of the night away in mens sneakers.
And even the shoes couldn't stop me from dancing the night away on the stage and the podium, what a loser.
Friday night Alex had a bbq and drinks at his place (funny photos to come from that night). Brilliant night sitting out in the backyard.
Sat was all about the parade. Toby and I went off for our spray tans and had to walk back through the middle of broadway at the absolute peak of our darkness trying to avoid the rain that was starting to come down. V. amusing
Sat night, finally, had a blast in the hotel room putting makeup on almost everyone in the room. Eyeliner anyone???
Managed to squeeze approx 20 people into the hotel room (with a room limit of 6 people, oops!) where we watched in style. 5 levels above the parade, it was perfect.
